About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Forestry Consultant to join their expanding remote team, serving clients across the UK. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and strategic planning for sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and timber harvesting operations. Leveraging your deep understanding of forestry science and policy, you will work independently to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet environmental, economic, and social objectives. This position offers the flexibility of working from anywhere within the UK, with a focus on digital collaboration and client engagement through virtual channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct remote site assessments and provide strategic recommendations for forest health, silviculture, and yield optimization.
- Develop detailed forest management plans, including planting schedules, thinning regimes, and harvesting strategies.
- Advise clients on environmental regulations, conservation initiatives, and carbon sequestration opportunities.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and technical documentation for a diverse range of stakeholders, including landowners and government agencies.
- Utilize GIS and remote sensing technologies for data analysis and spatial planning.
- Maintain strong client relationships through effective virtual communication and project management.
Requirements
- A degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master's degree or PhD is advantageous.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in forestry management or consultancy.
- In-depth knowledge of UK forestry legislation, best practices, and sustainability standards.
- Proficiency in forestry software, GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
