About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Remote Civil Engineer with expertise in geotechnical engineering to join their fully remote design team. This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions and designing stable foundations for a wide array of projects, from large-scale infrastructure to complex building developments across the UK. You will leverage your deep understanding of soil mechanics and foundation design principles to provide critical insights and solutions, all while working from the convenience of your own location. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including the analysis of soil reports and site investigation data.
- Design and specify a variety of foundation types, including shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Develop ground improvement strategies and slope stability analyses to ensure site safety and structural integrity.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design drawings, and technical specifications for client submission.
- Collaborate remotely with project managers, structural engineers, and clients to interpret findings and implement optimal design solutions.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs adhere to relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
- A minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong portfolio of foundation design projects.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar finite element analysis tools.
- Experience with site investigation planning, supervision, and interpretation of ground conditions.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to produce clear, concise, and technically accurate reports.
