About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert analysis and consultancy services for their global mining projects. This position requires a deep understanding of soil and rock mechanics, slope stability, and ground support systems, all applied within a remote work setting. You will be responsible for evaluating geotechnical risks, developing design recommendations, and contributing to the safety and efficiency of underground and open-pit operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for mine design, including slope stability, underground excavations, and tailings management facilities.
- Develop geotechnical recommendations for ground support, excavation sequencing, and dewatering.
- Review and interpret geotechnical investigation data, including borehole logs, lab test results, and geophysical surveys.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
- Collaborate remotely with site engineers, geologists, and project managers to address geotechnical challenges.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and mining practices.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in the mining sector.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Slide, GeoStudio, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics principles and their application in mining environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
