About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their expert team on a fully remote basis, contributing to their mining and infrastructure projects across the UK. This role focuses on analyzing soil and rock mechanics to ensure the stability and safety of excavations, foundations, and earth structures. You will provide critical geotechnical assessments, design recommendations, and risk analyses, supporting project planning and execution from your home office. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in geotechnical engineering and a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual setting, delivering crucial insights for projects without requiring a physical presence in Plymouth .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geotechnical investigations, including site characterization and laboratory testing analysis.
- Conduct slope stability analyses, foundation design, and settlement predictions for mining and construction projects.
- Develop geotechnical design parameters and recommendations for excavations, tunnels, and embankments.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assess and mitigate geotechnical risks associated with mining operations and construction activities.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining or large-scale civil projects.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC) for modeling and analysis.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and remote collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote environment.
