Our client is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Lead Mining Engineer to join their expanding team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations across the UK. This senior position requires a strategic thinker capable of overseeing complex mining projects from inception through to closure, focusing on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You will lead a team of engineers and geologists, providing expert technical direction and mentorship, and driving innovation in mining methodologies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of major mining projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and budget constraints.
- Oversee and mentor a distributed team of mining engineers, geologists, and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement advanced operational strategies for resource extraction, including open-pit and underground mining techniques.
- Conduct rigorous risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for all phases of mining operations.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in mining engineering and advocate for their adoption.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal teams, via virtual communication channels.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in open-pit and/or underground mining methodologies, mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, MineSight), and project management.
- Proven ability to lead and manage remote teams effectively.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
