About the Role
Our client is searching for an accomplished and visionary Remote Lead Urban Designer to spearhead significant urban regeneration and development projects. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of urban design initiatives, fostering cohesive and sustainable communities, and leading multidisciplinary teams. You will champion innovative design thinking, advocate for high-quality placemaking, and ensure design excellence across a range of large-scale projects, with the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK . This is a leadership role for an individual passionate about creating impactful and resilient urban environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization and development of urban design strategies and masterplans for complex sites.
- Manage and mentor a team of urban designers and related professionals in a remote setting.
- Engage with stakeholders, local authorities, community groups, and clients to build consensus and drive projects forward.
- Develop high-quality design documentation, including drawings, reports, and visualisations, to articulate design intent.
- Ensure designs promote sustainability, social equity, and economic viability, contributing to vibrant public realms.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in urban design, with proven leadership capabilities.
- Expertise in urban planning principles , master planning, and placemaking strategies.
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills for remote collaboration.
