Remote Legal Counsel - Data Protection

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Legal Counsel with specialized expertise in Data Protection Law to join their expanding legal team. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to provide critical legal guidance on privacy matters, GDPR compliance, and data security strategies to a UK-wide client base. You will be at the forefront of advising on evolving data privacy regulations, ensuring robust compliance frameworks are in place, and mitigating legal risks associated with data handling. This role is ideal for an experienced legal professional who excels in a remote working environment and is passionate about navigating the complexities of data privacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on all aspects of GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation across the UK and EU.
• Develop, review, and implement data protection policies, procedures, and training programs for clients.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
• Manage data breach incidents, including notification requirements and response protocols.
• Review and negotiate data processing agreements (DPAs) and other privacy-related clauses in commercial contracts.
• Provide expert legal counsel on cross-border data transfers and international privacy laws.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years' PQE.
• Substantial experience in data protection law , privacy, and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Experience conducting DPIAs and advising on data security measures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and work effectively in a remote setting .
