About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Remote Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in consumer electronics to join their innovative and fast-paced product development team. You will be instrumental in translating product concepts into tangible, high-quality mechanical designs, ensuring aesthetic appeal, functionality, and manufacturability. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical enclosures, mechanisms, and components for a range of consumer electronic products using 3D CAD software .
- Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and firmware teams in a virtual environment to integrate mechanical designs with other product components.
- Perform design validation through prototyping, testing, and analysis to ensure product performance, durability, and compliance.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews to optimize for mass production.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to consumer electronics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within the consumer electronics industry .
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Understanding of materials such as plastics, metals, and composites, and their applications in electronic devices.
- Experience with manufacturing processes like injection molding, die casting, and CNC machining.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for effective remote work.
