Our client is seeking a proactive and talented Remote Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on Product Development to join their innovative team, operating entirely remotely across the UK . You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept generation and detailed design to prototyping and preparation for mass production. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, utilizing advanced CAD software and best practices.
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
- Conduct design validation through simulations (e.g., FEA) and prototype testing, iterating based on results.
- Collaborate closely with remote cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and product managers.
- Troubleshoot mechanical design issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the selection of materials and manufacturing processes suitable for product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical product design and development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and related simulation tools.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment using digital collaboration tools.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
