About the Role
Our client, a pioneering research and development firm near Cambridge , is seeking a highly motivated Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. You will be responsible for translating complex scientific and engineering concepts into practical, functional designs. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and document complex mechanical components and systems for R&D projects using advanced CAD software .
- Perform rigorous simulations and analyses , including structural integrity, thermal management, and vibration characteristics.
- Collaborate virtually with a global team of physicists, engineers, and researchers to define requirements and refine designs.
- Generate detailed technical drawings, tolerance analyses, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Contribute to the specification and selection of materials and manufacturing processes suitable for advanced applications.
- Support prototype testing and validation, troubleshoot issues, and implement design modifications as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related advanced technical discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis , with a strong focus on R&D environments.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote work setting.
- In-depth knowledge of material science, precision manufacturing techniques, and instrumentation.
- Experience with optical systems or vacuum technology is a significant advantage.
