Remote Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to join their forward-thinking company, operating remotely from Cardiff . This position is critical for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for a variety of cutting-edge projects. You will be responsible for the entire design process, from initial concept generation through to detailed component design and system integration, all managed through effective remote collaboration tools. This role offers the unique advantage of working from anywhere while contributing significantly to the advancement of Mechanical Engineering products and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD software , ensuring manufacturability and performance targets are met.
• Conduct thorough stress analysis and thermal simulations to validate design integrity and optimize performance under various operating conditions.
• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production and assembly.
• Collaborate effectively with remote cross-functional teams, including project managers, R&D scientists, and manufacturing partners, utilizing digital communication platforms.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing technologies to incorporate into designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during prototyping, testing, and production phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency with industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to design documentation.
