About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Remote Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team, working entirely from home with a focus on projects based in or supporting operations in Cardiff . This role offers the unique advantage of contributing to cutting-edge engineering solutions without the need for a physical office presence. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical design, from initial concept through to detailed design and support, collaborating virtually with a dispersed team of experts. This position is ideal for an autonomous and communicative engineer who thrives in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify mechanical systems and components using 3D CAD software , ensuring designs are optimized for remote collaboration and digital workflows.
• Conduct engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis (e.g., FEA) to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly, adhering to remote documentation standards.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, suppliers, and other engineers via video conferencing, project management tools, and shared digital platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues, providing clear and concise technical support remotely.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and materials suitable for remote design and distributed manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a strong portfolio of design work.
• Proficiency in leading CAD software packages and simulation tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in virtual team environments.
• Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines in a remote setup.
