Remote Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Mine Planning Engineer for a fully remote position, contributing to their global mining projects with key operational oversight from Nottingham . This role is vital for developing short-term and long-term strategic mine plans, optimizing resource extraction, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. You will work closely with geological and operations teams to create detailed mine designs, schedules, and production forecasts. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, considering geological data, equipment capabilities, and safety regulations.
• Create and update mine designs, including pit limits, ramps, production areas, and waste disposal sites.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to generate sequences, schedules, and optimize resource recovery.
• Collaborate with geologists to ensure accurate resource modeling and reserve estimation integration into plans.
• Liaise with operations personnel to implement plans effectively and provide technical support.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a strong focus on open pit or underground operations.
• Proficiency with advanced mine planning and modeling software (e.g., Deswik , Vulcan, Surpac).
• Solid understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
• Experience in production scheduling, equipment utilization, and cost estimation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
