About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their distributed technology team, supporting operations based out of Sunderland . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's global network infrastructure, ensuring robust connectivity, security, and performance for all users and systems. You will be instrumental in managing complex network environments, troubleshooting issues, and planning for future growth from the comfort of your home office. Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points across multiple locations.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and low latency.
- Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and standards, and maintain an up-to-date network diagram.
- Collaborate with IT teams and external vendors on network-related projects and infrastructure upgrades.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering and infrastructure management.
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.
- Hands-on experience with network security technologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and remote collaboration skills.
