Remote Network Security Analyst

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Remote Network Security Analyst to bolster their cybersecurity efforts. Operating entirely remotely, you will be instrumental in safeguarding our client's digital assets by monitoring, detecting, and responding to network security threats. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a deep understanding of network protocols, security principles, and threat analysis. You'll be an integral part of a distributed team committed to maintaining a robust security posture for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network traffic and security logs for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
• Investigate security alerts, analyse threat intelligence, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Implement and maintain security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure.
• Develop and update security policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into all network operations and projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience in network security analysis, incident response, or a related cybersecurity role.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), security frameworks, and common attack vectors.
• Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM systems, packet analyzers, and vulnerability scanners.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH) are highly desirable for this Edinburgh -based remote position.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
