About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Process Safety Engineer to join their globally distributed team, contributing significantly from their home office. This role is crucial for upholding the highest standards of safety across all our client's operations, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements and fostering a robust safety culture. You will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related hazards through rigorous analysis and the implementation of effective safety management systems, working independently while maintaining seamless collaboration with site-based teams. This is an ideal position for an expert in process safety who values autonomy and the ability to influence safety protocols on a large scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs across all operational sites.
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies, and ensure recommendations are actioned.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses (RCAs), and the development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international safety regulations and standards.
- Develop and deliver training materials on process safety principles and procedures to relevant personnel.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, procedures, and safety critical equipment registers.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in process safety engineering, with a strong focus on hazard identification and risk assessment.
- In-depth knowledge of industry safety standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
- Proven ability to conduct and lead HAZOP studies and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders remotely.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.
