About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly specialized Remote Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert analysis and guidance on mine stability and ground control for their diverse mining operations. Working remotely, you will be responsible for assessing the geotechnical risks associated with underground and open-pit mining projects, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring the structural integrity of mine openings. This role demands a deep understanding of soil and rock mechanics, coupled with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively from a distance, supporting our global teams in maintaining the highest safety standards. You will be a key advisor, contributing to the safe and sustainable development of mining resources worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and site characterization studies.
- Perform stability analyses for slopes, excavations, and underground mine structures.
- Develop and implement ground support designs and monitoring programs.
- Analyze instrumentation data to assess ground behavior and potential risks.
- Provide expert technical recommendations on geotechnical aspects of mine design and operation.
- Review and approve geotechnical reports and designs from external consultants.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant exposure to the mining industry .
- Proficiency in numerical modeling software for geotechnical analysis (e.g., FLAC, Plaxis).
- Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong written and verbal communication for remote collaboration .
