Remote Senior Mechanical Designer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Remote Senior Mechanical Designer to join their innovative, globally distributed team. This role is crucial for translating complex engineering concepts into detailed, manufacturable designs for cutting-edge products. You will play a lead role in the design process, mentoring junior designers and collaborating with engineers across various disciplines in a fully remote setting. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of complex mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Create comprehensive manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation packages.
• Perform tolerance analysis and ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality control teams to resolve design challenges and ensure product integrity.
• Conduct design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior designers in best practices and standards.
• Research and recommend new design tools, technologies, and materials to enhance the design process and product performance.

Requirements

• HND/HNC or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, with a strong portfolio demonstrating complex designs.
• Expert proficiency in 3D parametric CAD software and 2D drafting tools.
• In-depth knowledge of GD&T, materials science, and manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Proven ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment, with excellent communication skills.
