About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Remote Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This position is critical for driving innovation in the design and development of next-generation power conversion technologies. You will be instrumental in shaping the architecture of our client's advanced power systems, working from the comfort of your home office, ideally located in or near Belfast, Northern Ireland , or elsewhere in the UK. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, simulation, and development of high-efficiency power converter topologies (e.g., AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC) for demanding applications.
- Perform detailed circuit analysis , component selection, and system-level integration for complex power electronics solutions.
- Develop and execute rigorous test plans to validate design performance, reliability, and thermal characteristics, ensuring compliance with international standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineers, using virtual collaboration tools.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power semiconductor devices, control strategies, and industry trends to drive innovation.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
- Deep understanding of magnetics design, GaN/SiC devices , control loops, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice) and PCB design tools.
- Proven experience in leading complex technical projects and delivering high-quality results.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative team environment.
