Remote Sustainable Forestry Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Remote Sustainable Forestry Advisor to support their work in promoting environmentally sound forest management practices across Scotland. Operating remotely from Edinburgh , you will provide expert guidance to forest owners, stakeholders, and internal teams on achieving sustainability certifications, enhancing biodiversity, and implementing climate-friendly forestry techniques. This role requires a deep understanding of forestry principles, conservation, and policy, coupled with excellent communication skills to effectively advise clients virtually. You will be instrumental in advancing the client's mission to foster resilient and productive forest ecosystems for future generations.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on best practices for sustainable forest management, including biodiversity enhancement and carbon sequestration.
• Support forest owners in achieving and maintaining recognized sustainability certifications (e.g., FSC, PEFC).
• Conduct remote assessments of forest management plans and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Stay updated on relevant forestry policies, regulations, and emerging trends in sustainable land use.
• Develop and deliver online training materials and workshops for forest stakeholders.
• Collaborate with research institutions and NGOs to promote innovative forestry solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in sustainable forest management or conservation, with a focus on UK forestry.
• In-depth knowledge of forest ecology, silviculture, climate change adaptation in forests, and certification standards.
• Proven ability to provide expert advice and engage with diverse stakeholders remotely.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills.
• Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing tools for forest analysis is advantageous.
