About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Remote Underwriting Assistant to provide crucial administrative and analytical support to the underwriting team. Working entirely from home, you will assist senior underwriters in processing applications, managing policy documentation, and performing preliminary risk analysis. This role is an excellent entry point into the underwriting profession, offering valuable experience and the chance to develop key skills within a supportive, virtual environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of the underwriting department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist underwriters in processing new insurance applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Conduct preliminary research and data gathering on potential policyholders and risks.
- Manage and maintain underwriting files, both digital and physical, ensuring they are well-organised and up-to-date.
- Communicate with brokers and agents to request missing information or clarify application details.
- Support the underwriting team with ad-hoc administrative tasks and reporting.
- Help monitor policy renewals and assist with endorsements and policy changes.
Requirements
- Previous administrative or customer service experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- A keen interest in developing a career in underwriting is essential.
