Renewable Energy Project Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Renewable Energy Project Developer to identify, secure, and advance new clean energy opportunities in Scotland and beyond, based out of their Edinburgh office. This role involves managing the entire development cycle of renewable energy projects, from initial site prospecting and feasibility studies to securing permits, financing, and power purchase agreements. You will play a critical part in expanding our client's renewable energy portfolio and contributing significantly to the green transition. This position offers a unique chance to shape the future of energy, work with diverse stakeholders, and drive impactful projects forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects (e.g., solar, wind, battery storage).
• Conduct thorough site assessments, including resource analysis, grid connection feasibility, and environmental impact studies.
• Negotiate land leases, option agreements, and other necessary contracts with landowners and third parties.
• Prepare and submit planning applications and secure all necessary regulatory approvals.
• Develop financial models and assist in securing project financing through interactions with investors and lenders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, authorities, and industry partners.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in renewable energy project development or a related field like real estate development or infrastructure investment.
• Strong understanding of the UK's renewable energy landscape, including policy, grid infrastructure, and consenting processes.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Experience with financial modelling and understanding of project finance principles.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or Law.
