About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and strategic Renewable Energy Project Developer to identify, secure, and advance new renewable energy projects, particularly focusing on solar and wind power. You will be instrumental in bringing projects from initial concept through to financial close, involving site selection, stakeholder engagement, and securing necessary permits and agreements. This role requires a blend of commercial acumen, technical understanding, and excellent negotiation skills. Operating on a hybrid model, you will benefit from the flexibility of remote work while maintaining essential collaboration and networking opportunities through periodic visits to our Bristol office and client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential sites for new renewable energy projects, conducting feasibility studies and resource assessments.
- Negotiate land lease agreements, grid connection offers, and other contracts with landowners, utilities, and authorities.
- Develop and manage project pipelines, progressing opportunities through various stages of development.
- Engage with local communities, regulatory bodies, and environmental agencies to ensure smooth project progression and stakeholder buy-in.
- Collaborate with financial partners, investors, and legal teams to achieve financial close for projects.
- Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development , with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system, grid connection processes, and relevant consenting regimes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in financial modeling and understanding of project finance structures.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing independent work with team collaboration.
