Repairs Supervisor
Location: Bridgend

Make a real difference. Lead a skilled team. Keep homes safe, accessible and comfortable.
Are you a practical, hands-on professional who can lead a team while still getting stuck in when needed?
We’re looking for a Hands-On Repairs Supervisor to support a busy care and repair service helping older people and people with disabilities to live safely and independently in their own homes.
This is a varied role combining team leadership, practical building skills, health & safety, stock management and quality control. No two days are likely to be the same.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll help lead a team delivering small repairs, adaptations and fast-track home improvement services, including work supporting people returning home from hospital.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and monitoring a team of practical operatives.
- Carrying out site visits, spot checks and regular quality audits.
- Supporting colleagues with more complex practical work when required.
- Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Organising vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE.
- Managing stock levels, deliveries and materials.
- Carrying out regular tool and equipment audits.
- Delivering toolbox talks and promoting excellent health & safety standards.
- Reviewing risk assessments and identifying potential hazards.
- Managing annual leave and flexi-time within the team.
- Working with external partners and organisations to deliver agreed services.
- Assessing and costing repair/adaptation work where required.
- Helping investigate customer complaints and resolve issues.
- Contributing to service improvements, pricing schedules and purchasing decisions.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need a strong practical background and a good level of competency across complementary trade disciplines. Just as importantly, you’ll be confident leading people, organising workloads and maintaining high standards.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Practical and solutions-focused
- A confident team leader
- Organised and reliable
- Comfortable working across different trades
- Strong on health & safety
- Quality-conscious
- A good communicator
- Customer-focused and compassionate
- Confident working with partner organisations and contractors
You’ll need to be comfortable balancing hands-on work with leadership and administration – from checking a van and tools in the morning to carrying out a site audit, supporting a colleague on a complex job or resolving a stock issue in the afternoon.
Why this role matters
This isn’t just about fixing things.
The work you and your team deliver can help someone remain independent, return home from hospital safely, or continue living comfortably in their own home.
You’ll play a key role in making sure a practical service runs smoothly, safely and with the people who use it at the heart of everything you do.
Ready for a role where your practical skills and leadership really count?
If you’re an experienced tradesperson or practical professional who is ready to take the next step into a team leadership role – while keeping your hands dirty when necessary – we’d love to hear from you.
Bring your practical expertise. Bring your leadership skills. Make a genuine difference every day
