Research Associate - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Research Associate to join their dynamic Drug Discovery team in Edinburgh . This role is hands-on, focusing on supporting innovative research projects aimed at identifying and validating new therapeutic targets and drug candidates. You will work within state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, contributing to various stages of the drug discovery pipeline, from target identification to lead optimization. Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory experiments, including cell-based assays, biochemical assays, and molecular biology techniques.
• Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in electronic lab notebooks.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and cell cultures according to established protocols.
• Assist in the design and execution of experiments, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
• Analyze experimental data using appropriate software and contribute to data interpretation.
• Collaborate with senior scientists and researchers within the drug discovery department.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related life science field.
• 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting.
• Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blotting) and cell culture.
• Experience with various assay formats (e.g., ELISA, High-Throughput Screening) is desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
