Research Fellow - Oncology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and talented Research Fellow to join their prestigious oncology research group in Southampton . This post-doctoral position offers an exciting opportunity to conduct fundamental research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer and to contribute to the development of novel cancer therapies. You will be involved in designing and executing a range of sophisticated experiments, analyzing complex data sets, and publishing your findings in high-impact scientific journals. The role requires a deep understanding of cancer biology and cell signaling pathways, coupled with strong laboratory skills and a passion for scientific discovery. You will work within a supportive and collaborative research environment, contributing to a world-leading cancer research program.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research projects focused on understanding the basic biology of cancer and identifying new therapeutic targets.
• Design, perform, and optimize complex cell-based assays, molecular biology techniques, and biochemical experiments.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, presenting findings clearly and concisely at lab meetings and seminars.
• Contribute to the writing of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and assist in grant applications.
• Collaborate with other researchers within the team and across different departments to achieve research objectives.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in cancer research, with a strong understanding of cellular signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms of disease.
• Hands-on expertise in techniques such as western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture.
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent research projects and troubleshoot experimental challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of scientific publications.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team in Southampton .
