Research Scientist - Cheminformatics

About the Role

Our client is searching for a highly skilled Research Scientist specializing in Cheminformatics to join their innovative, fully remote scientific research and development team. This role is central to driving drug discovery efforts by leveraging computational approaches to analyze chemical and biological data. You will collaborate with a distributed team of medicinal chemists, biologists, and data scientists, contributing to the design and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cheminformatician to contribute to impactful scientific projects in a flexible, home-based setting, utilizing advanced computational tools to accelerate discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement computational methods for the analysis of chemical structures, compound libraries, and biological activity data.
• Design and execute virtual screening campaigns to identify potential drug candidates.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists to guide structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies.
• Build and maintain cheminformatics databases and tools to support research efforts.
• Contribute to the interpretation of experimental results and the strategic direction of drug discovery projects.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field with a strong computational focus.
• Proven experience in applying cheminformatics principles and tools to drug discovery or related research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with cheminformatics toolkits (e.g., RDKit, Open Babel).
• Familiarity with molecular modeling, QSAR, and data mining techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a remote , collaborative environment.
