About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Research Scientist with expertise in Computational Chemistry to join their dynamic R&D department in Nottingham . This role is crucial for advancing our drug discovery efforts through the application of molecular modeling, simulation, and cheminformatics. You will collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and biologists to design and optimize novel drug candidates. This hybrid position allows for focused remote work on complex modeling tasks and in-person collaboration within our cutting-edge chemistry labs, fostering both individual productivity and team synergy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply computational methods for molecular modeling, virtual screening, and drug design.
- Perform quantum mechanical and molecular dynamics simulations to understand reaction mechanisms and molecular properties.
- Analyze and interpret simulation data to guide synthetic chemistry efforts and predict compound behavior.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists to design novel molecules with desired properties.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of cheminformatics tools and databases.
- Stay current with advancements in computational chemistry and drug discovery methodologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in molecular modeling, simulation, and cheminformatics.
- Proficiency with computational chemistry software packages (e.g., Schrödinger, GROMACS, Amber).
- Strong understanding of quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and organic chemistry.
- Experience in drug discovery or a related field.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills for a hybrid team.
