Our client is seeking a talented Research Scientist with a specialization in Genomics to join their innovative research facility in Belfast . This role will involve designing and executing experiments focused on understanding genetic variation and its impact on disease. You will work with state-of-the-art sequencing technologies and computational tools to analyze large genomic datasets. Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments related to next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation and data generation.
- Perform primary analysis of genomic data, including variant calling, annotation, and quality control.
- Collaborate with computational biologists to interpret genomic findings and their biological significance.
- Develop and optimize new molecular and sequencing protocols to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to the development of research hypotheses and experimental strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of reports and publications.
Requirements
- MSc or Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience with various NGS platforms and library preparation kits.
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and software for genomic data analysis.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and genetic variation.
- Experience with data analysis in a Linux/Unix environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
