Research Scientist - Oncology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and scientifically rigorous Research Scientist to join their dynamic Oncology team in Portsmouth . This role is focused on advancing our understanding of cancer biology and contributing to the development of novel anti-cancer therapies. You will be involved in designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to drive research forward. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments to investigate cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, signaling pathways, and drug response.
• Perform various molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cell culture, Western blotting, PCR, and immunoassays.
• Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and present findings clearly to the research team.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental protocols and assays.
• Collaborate with colleagues to interpret results and contribute to project strategy and decision-making.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and contribute to scientific reports.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in oncology research, with a strong understanding of cancer biology principles.
• Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques.
• Familiarity with common cancer research tools and assays.
• Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret experimental data.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for a hybrid work environment.
