Residential Support Worker - Adults with Learning Disabilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join their team in Cardiff , supporting adults with learning disabilities. This role is central to enabling residents to lead fulfilling and independent lives within a safe and nurturing environment. You will provide hands-on assistance with daily routines, encourage personal development, and promote social inclusion. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to creating a positive and empowering atmosphere where each resident's unique needs and aspirations are met with dignity and respect. This is an essential role for individuals committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, and medication management, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Support residents in engaging with daily activities, hobbies, and community outings, fostering independence and social interaction.
• Monitor the health and well-being of residents, reporting any changes or concerns to the senior care team promptly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, observations, and any significant events.
• Promote a positive and inclusive living environment, addressing challenging behaviours constructively and empathetically.
• Collaborate with families, support networks, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.

Requirements

• Experience in a similar role supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex needs is preferred.
• A genuine passion for care and a strong understanding of individualised support.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with patience and empathy.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow care plans accurately.
• Willingness to undertake training, including QCF/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
