Residential Support Worker - Adults with Learning Disabilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join their team in Cardiff . You will be providing essential care and support to adults with learning disabilities, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives within a residential setting. This role requires a genuine commitment to person-centred care, promoting dignity, respect, and choice for all service users. Working within a supportive team, you will contribute to creating a positive and nurturing environment, helping residents to develop life skills and achieve their personal goals in the Cardiff area.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, assisting with daily living tasks including personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
• Encourage and support residents in engaging in community activities, hobbies, and social events, promoting their independence and inclusion.
• Administer medication as prescribed, adhering strictly to administration policies and procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
• Support residents in managing their finances, appointments, and other daily responsibilities, empowering them to make their own choices.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to care.
• Observe, monitor, and report on residents' well-being, behaviour, and progress, escalating any concerns promptly to the line manager.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably within a residential setting supporting adults with learning disabilities, is highly advantageous.
• A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with a strong commitment to promoting the rights and dignity of individuals.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with residents and colleagues.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts as required by the rota.
• Willingness to undertake further training, including mandatory courses and professional development.
• Basic IT literacy for record-keeping purposes within the Cardiff facility.
