About the Role
Our client is seeking caring and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join their team in Plymouth . This hands-on role involves providing essential support to adults with complex needs, including learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and challenging behaviours, within a residential setting. You will foster a supportive and enabling environment, assisting residents with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being and safety. This is a vital role for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable adults, working as part of a committed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to residents, assisting with all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
- Support residents in engaging in meaningful activities, hobbies, and social pursuits to enhance their quality of life.
- Assist with meal preparation, household tasks, and medication administration as per individual care plans.
- Observe, monitor, and record residents' progress, behaviour, and well-being, escalating any concerns to senior staff promptly.
- Promote residents' independence, choice, and dignity at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a caregiving or support role, particularly with adults with complex needs, is highly advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow care plans meticulously.
- Willingness to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
