Retail Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and commercially astute Retail Architect to join their vibrant studio in Plymouth . This role is focused on designing engaging and functional retail spaces, from high-street shops to larger commercial developments, that enhance customer experience and drive brand success. You will work on projects from concept design through to project completion, collaborating with clients, marketing teams, and contractors to create spaces that are both aesthetically appealing and operationally effective. Key Responsibilities

• Develop creative and practical design concepts for retail environments, reflecting brand identity and customer needs.
• Produce detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and mood boards for retail fit-outs and new builds.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their commercial objectives and translate them into effective spatial designs.
• Ensure designs comply with building regulations, accessibility standards, and health and safety requirements across the UK .
• Coordinate with M&E consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Stay updated on retail design trends, material innovations, and customer behaviour to inform design solutions.

Requirements

• A degree in Architecture or a related design discipline.
• Proven experience (4+ years) in retail architecture or interior design for commercial spaces.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating successful retail design projects.
• Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Understanding of retail operations, fixture design, and customer flow principles.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
