Retail Cleaning Operative

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dependable and diligent Retail Cleaning Operative to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of a retail store in Sunderland . This role is essential for ensuring a welcoming and hygienic shopping environment for customers and a pleasant workspace for staff. You will be responsible for a range of cleaning duties, from general tidying to more intensive cleaning tasks during and after operating hours. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and take pride in contributing to a positive retail experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting all areas of the retail store.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, staff rooms, and other ancillary areas.
• Empty bins and ensure all waste is disposed of correctly according to environmental guidelines.
• Maintain the cleanliness of shop windows, display areas, and entrances.
• Restock consumables such as soap and toilet paper in washrooms.
• Report any maintenance issues or cleaning supply shortages to the store manager.

Requirements

• Previous cleaning experience, preferably within a retail or customer-facing environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• A strong understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to assigned shifts.
