Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Children’s Services leader to take a key role in driving service improvement, supporting practice development and improving outcomes for children with disabilities and their families.
Service Manager – Children with Disabilities
£370 per day
Initial 3-month contract
Suffolk
3–4 days per week on-site
Locations: Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds & Ipswich
The role will be primarily based in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich .
The Opportunity
You’ll provide visible operational leadership within the Children with Disabilities Service, with a particular focus on the continued development and improvement of the Activities Unlimited Short Breaks Service .
Working closely with senior leaders, managers and frontline practitioners, you’ll lead an established improvement programme, helping to embed sustainable change and ensure children and families receive high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership across the Children with Disabilities Service
- Lead the ongoing development of the Activities Unlimited Short Breaks Service
- Drive service improvement, transformation and practice development
- Support and challenge practice to improve outcomes for children and families
- Engage, motivate and support teams through organisational change
- Monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Work closely with senior leadership and project teams to deliver strategic priorities
- Contribute to budget management and ensure services operate effectively within financial parameters
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance meetings
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
What we’re looking for
- Significant management experience within Children’s Services
- Recent experience working within a Children with Disabilities (CWD) Service
- A strong track record of leading service improvement, transformation and change
- Excellent operational leadership and people-management skills
- Experience managing performance and working within budgetary frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- The resilience and drive to lead change and bring teams with you
This role requires 3–4 days per week on-site to provide visible leadership and support practice development, although four-day working patterns may be considered.
