Poplar Grove Practice is a forward thinking, innovative training practice, rated as Good by CQC and we look after 25,000 patients in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and forward-thinking GP to join our team.

Poplar Grove Surgery aspires to be a welcoming practice promoting dignity and mutual respect to all our patients and staff. We work in partnership with each other and the wider community to continuously improve our patient -centred service through safe and effective decision making and clear communication. We listen to all feedback, good and bad, from our staff, patients and members of the local community. This enables us to design, innovate and evolve our services in line with the changes to NHS healthcare service provision.

We are an active member of Maple PCN which comprises of three local practices.

The vision of Poplar Grove Practice is to provide the best possible care that we can for our patients by delivering safe and high-quality patient-centered services with the wellbeing of our staff being paramount too.

Poplar Grove is a seven partner and seven salaried GP Practice.

We have two GP trainers and currently have four GP trainees on board. We also have started training medical students and other Allied Health Care professional students.

We have a wide Allied Health Care professional team, which include pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, HCA.s.

We use Emis Web, AccuRx, and Docman our online platform is eConsult

On a routine full day normally, you will see 22 15-minute patient appointments.

We have a duty system which involves a Duty GP (Duty GP works form 8am to 6.30pm), a Triaging GP also an acute GP plus other healthcare professionals, we continuously review this Duty system to ensure we provide the best service possible.

Benefits of our online platform

• All appointment requests come through the platform and are clinically triaged by a GP. This ensures the right appointment is offered to suit the patient’s needs, if an appointment is not needed the GP can communicate with the patient through the platform.
• We are offering more pre-bookable appointments, either face to face or a telephone call
• We are able to deal with “quick wins” like out-of-stock medications, sick notes and signposting to other services when a GP appointment is not necessary.

Supporting the wellbeing of our staff is a very important part of the Poplar Grove ethos and work life balance is crucial. We have a number of Practice socials throughout the year. We value input from all the staff, and we recognise their participation in making Poplar Grove Practice work.

We support all our new GP’s with providing them with a mentor.

We offer an internal appraisal to all our GPs.

We have a daily team huddle where the duty team and management team plan the day which is at 8am. The duty team will also meet again for a clinical huddle midmorning.

Protected Learning Time which are ten afternoons a year.

There is a host of clinical meetings and teaching sessions to support your PDP.
