Sales Manager – Fire Safety
Location: South Wales – covering South Wales, Midlands & South West, with occasional UK travel
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience
Reports to: Commercial Director
The Role
Rhino Recruitment is recruiting for a leading fire safety company seeking an experienced, commercially focused Sales Manager.
This is a player-manager role, leading 2 Business Development Managers and 1 Internal Sales Executive while maintaining a personal sales pipeline. You will drive profitable growth, improve conversion rates, develop the sales team and strengthen commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the sales team.
Set and monitor sales targets, KPIs and activity levels.
Conduct regular one-to-ones, pipeline reviews and performance reviews.
Support recruitment, onboarding and training.
Build a high-performance, accountable sales culture.
Sales & Business Growth
Deliver sales strategy across South Wales, Midlands and South West.
Maintain a personal pipeline and manage key accounts.
Support BDMs with complex opportunities, tenders and negotiations.
Drive sales across the company's fire safety portfolio, including:
Fire alarms and detection – BS5839 Parts 1 & 6
Emergency lighting – BS5266
Fire extinguishers
Fire suppression, including Ansul
Passive fire protection and fire stopping
Fire doors, dampers and AOVs
Sprinkler systems
Service and maintenance contracts
Fire safety consultancy and compliance
Internal Sales & Commercial Performance
Oversee the internal sales desk and quotation process.
Maintain pricing, margin and gross profit control.
Improve enquiry-to-quote and quote-to-order conversion.
Own combined sales targets and pipeline forecasting.
Monitor sales activity, conversion rates and CRM/SIMPRO data.
Produce regular sales and performance reports.
Customer & Operational Alignment
Develop strong relationships with customers, consultants and key stakeholders.
Support complex commercial negotiations and escalations.
Ensure effective handover from sales to operations.
Work within relevant ISO9001, NSI GOLD and regulatory requirements.
About You
Essential:
Proven fire safety industry experience.
Strong knowledge of active and passive fire protection.
Experience managing and developing sales teams.
Proven sales experience across fire alarms, emergency lighting, suppression and service contracts.
Strong commercial awareness, including margins and profitability.
Excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills.
Experienced in pipeline management, forecasting and CRM systems.
Confident with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Self-motivated, organised and results-driven.
Desirable:
Ansul kitchen suppression experience.
Knowledge of fire doors, dampers, AOVs and passive fire protection.
Experience with SLAs, KPIs and field service systems.
Understanding of ISO9001, NSI GOLD and BAFE environments.
