Previous experience working within a UK government organisation is essential.
We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join a major digital programme within a UK government organisation.
The successful candidate will develop and maintain both front-end and back-end applications using Scala, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business and user requirements.
You will need strong Scala development experience, a good understanding of Test-Driven Development and experience working with CI/CD pipelines, version control and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain front-end and back-end applications using Scala.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop and test technical solutions.
- Translate business requirements into effective and maintainable applications.
- Produce clean, high-quality and well-tested code.
- Apply Test-Driven Development throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Follow engineering best practices across development, testing and deployment.
- Work with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to technical decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in engineering communities, sharing knowledge and development best practices.
- Support the delivery of secure, scalable and reliable digital services.
- Previous software development experience within a UK government organisation.
- Experience developing both front-end and back-end applications.
- Experience using development tools and version control systems.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and services.
- Good understanding of agile development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Clearance
BPSS clearance is required for this role.
Location and Travel
The role requires attendance at the Leeds client site once per month for two consecutive days.
Candidates should either live within reasonable travelling distance of Leeds or be comfortable arranging an overnight stay each month.
- Initial three-month contract.
- Immediate start.
- Inside IR35.
- Two consecutive days per month on site in Leeds.
