School Data Officer | Independent Secondary School | Birmingham

Are you an experienced administrator or data professional looking to move into a school environment? We’re currently working with an independent secondary school in Birmingham that is looking for a Data Officer to join its support team.

This is a varied role where you’ll be responsible for keeping student information accurate and up to date, supporting reporting and assessment processes, and helping staff access the information they need. It would suit someone who is organised, confident with systems and enjoys working with detail.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll provide day-to-day support across the school’s data function, including:

• Maintaining accurate student records
• Updating the school’s Management Information System
• Supporting assessment and reporting cycles
• Producing reports and spreadsheets for staff
• Checking data and following up on any discrepancies
• Supporting attendance, admissions and examination data
• Assisting with curriculum and timetable information
• Responding to data requests from teachers and senior leaders
• Supporting statutory returns and census information
• Keeping records organised and confidential
• Helping to improve administrative and data processes

The Person

The school is looking for someone who is methodical, reliable and comfortable working with data.

Strong Excel and general IT skills are important, alongside excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines. Previous experience using SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or another school MIS would be an advantage.

School experience would be useful, but the school is also open to candidates from wider data, administration or information management backgrounds who are keen to bring their skills into education.
