What you will do:
- Provide specialist support to any scrutiny panel as needed, and assist the Overview and Scrutiny function in holding the Executive and partners to account.
- Offer professional advice on scrutiny issues to politicians, council officers, and the public, ensuring everyone is informed and engaged.
- Support the Corporate Governance Manager in training council officers on scrutiny matters to maintain a high standard of practice.
- Prepare and present reports to scrutiny panels or other bodies, advising on quality improvements and ensuring all documents meet high standards.
- Attend meetings within the Council buildings and other locations, providing coverage for scrutiny meetings as required.
- Assist in developing an annual Scrutiny Work Programme, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of key initiatives.
- Handle inquiries and complaints efficiently that come from council members or external bodies, ensuring clear and responsive communication.
- Keep abreast of legislative, policy, and technical developments to ensure the effective discharge of statutory functions by the Scrutiny Panels.
- Conduct research and analysis of local and national performance data, producing insightful reports for various stakeholders.
