English Teacher / Cover Supervisor

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Bury seeking a dedicated English specialist to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to inspiring a love of English while also being flexible enough to provide general classroom cover when required.

The successful candidate will primarily teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their reading, writing, and communication skills. There may also be occasions where you are asked to undertake Cover Supervisor responsibilities, delivering pre-planned lessons across other subject areas in the absence of teaching staff.

The Role

• Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Plan, assess, and monitor student progress
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
• Provide general classroom cover when required
• Deliver pre-set work across a variety of subjects during teacher absences
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student development and attainment

Ideal Candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Has experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
• Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
• Confident managing classrooms and engaging learners of varying abilities
• Flexible and adaptable in supporting wider school needs
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• Passionate about helping students achieve their full potential
