Secondary Learning Support Assistant Harrogate

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Learning Support Assistant to join a school in Harrogate on a full-time basis from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students across the secondary age range, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and make positive progress both academically and personally. The role would suit someone with school-based experience or a strong background in youth work, care, mentoring, or SEND support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Work with individual students and small groups to help them access the curriculum.
• Support students with additional learning, behavioural, social, or emotional needs.
• Promote engagement, independence, and inclusion within the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement support strategies and targeted interventions.

Pre-requisites

• Experience working with secondary-aged students or young people in a school, care, youth work, or support setting.
• A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• A good understanding of inclusive practice and supporting students with additional needs is desirable.
