Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is actively recruiting a dedicated Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their vigilant team in Plymouth . This role is essential for real-time monitoring and analysis of security threats and alerts across the organisation's IT infrastructure. You will be on the front lines, detecting, investigating, and responding to potential security incidents to protect company assets and sensitive data. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for cybersecurity, contributing to a secure and stable operational environment within our dedicated security hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection systems.
• Investigate suspicious activities, analyse potential threats, and escalate incidents according to established procedures.
• Perform initial triage and provide accurate, timely documentation of security incidents.
• Utilise threat intelligence to identify and prioritise potential risks.
• Assist in the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC tools and processes.

Requirements

• Experience in a SOC Analyst role or similar cybersecurity monitoring position.
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and network monitoring tools.
• Understanding of common cyber attack vectors and security principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for incident reporting and team collaboration.
