Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager to lead their SOC team in Reading . This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the SOC, including threat detection, incident response, and continuous monitoring of security systems. You will ensure the team is equipped to handle emerging threats and maintain the highest level of security for the organisation. This is a critical role for a manager passionate about protecting digital assets and building high-performing security teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the SOC team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
• Oversee the 24/7 monitoring of security alerts, ensuring timely and effective incident detection and response.
• Develop, implement, and refine SOC procedures, playbooks, and operational processes.
• Manage and optimise SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other security monitoring tools.
• Conduct regular threat hunting exercises to proactively identify potential security breaches.
• Analyse security trends and metrics, reporting on the SOC's performance and effectiveness to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Proven experience in threat detection, incident response, and security monitoring.
• In-depth knowledge of SIEM technologies, network security principles, and common attack vectors.
• Strong understanding of threat intelligence sources and their application.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
