Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a motivated Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst to join their growing security team in Glasgow . In this role, you will be at the forefront of monitoring and defending the organisation's network and systems against cyber threats. You will analyse security alerts, investigate potential incidents, and contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC operations and threat detection capabilities. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection tools.
• Investigate security incidents, analyse threat data, and perform initial triage and containment actions.
• Document security incidents, including findings, actions taken, and recommendations for resolution.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Perform threat hunting activities to proactively identify potential security vulnerabilities and threats.
• Collaborate with other security teams and IT staff to ensure effective incident management and remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) or similar security monitoring role.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, and network security concepts.
• Understanding of common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
• Ability to work rotating shifts if required, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CySA+ are a plus.
