About the Role
We are seeking a SEMH Teacher for a specialist setting in Rochdale supporting learners aged 11-16 who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and structured environment where every student can build confidence, resilience, and re-engage with learning.
As part of the team, you'll work with enthusiastic learners who benefit from creative, flexible and relationship-focused teaching. Your role will be to help them access the curriculum, develop key skills, and celebrate progress at every step of their learning journey.
We are looking for a SEMH teacher who:
Deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet individual learning needs and SEMH priorities Teach across a range of subjects - particularly maths, English, science and life-skills, whilst adapting delivery to suit learners' needs and abilities Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that meet SEMH needs Work effectively without constant direction and use initiative Build strong, trusting relationships with students Understand behaviour as communication and respond with consistency and empathy
What We're Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching SEMH or in specialist settings Strong understanding of SEMH, SEND, and positive behaviour strategies Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families Highly organised, adaptable, and proactive approach to teaching and pastoral care Passion for helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their full potential
To Be Eligible You Must:
Hold the Right to Work in the UK Have an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to apply) Be able to provide two professional child-related references
