SEN Learning Support Assistant - Specialist Education

Pay: £95-£125 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time | Term Time Only
Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Sheffield.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and wants to build a career within Special Educational Needs and specialist education.
You will work alongside experienced teaching staff to provide additional support to pupils who may have autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, SEMH needs or other additional needs.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils individually and within small groups
Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning
Providing encouragement and reassurance where needed
Supporting communication, social development and emotional regulation
Helping pupils develop independence and confidence
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Supporting teachers with classroom activities and resources
Following individual support and behaviour plans
Working as part of a wider SEN support team
Creating a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is patient, approachable and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
Previous experience within SEN is highly desirable, but we would also consider candidates with transferable experience from:
Teaching Assistant roles
Care or residential support
Youth work
Mental health support
Healthcare
Support work
Childcare
Community-based supportYou will need to be able to build strong relationships with pupils, communicate effectively with staff and remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
