SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School
📍 East Sussex
🕒 Full-Time | Monday to Friday
📅 Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Academics are working with a welcoming Primary School in East Sussex who are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
This role will involve providing 1:1 support to a child in KS2 with Special Educational Needs, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the child's individual EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and help them achieve their full potential.
The role will include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEN
Supporting the child with their learning, development and emotional wellbeing
Following and working towards targets set out within the child's EHCP
Adapting learning activities to meet the child's individual needs
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement in the classroom
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals
Supporting with behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
Have at least 6 months' experience working with primary-aged children
Have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs
Be confident providing 1:1 support
Be patient, caring and resilient
Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Be able to commit to a full-time role
