We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school in Marple from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students who require additional support to engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support students both in and out of the classroom. This role would suit individuals who are passionate about making a difference and have experience working with young people through education, sports coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, or voluntary work.
Key Responsibilities
Support students with SEN and SEMH needs throughout the school day
Assist pupils in accessing learning and engaging in classroom activities
Build positive and trusting relationships with students
Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence
Support behaviour management strategies and interventions
Work with individuals and small groups to encourage academic and personal development
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and pastoral teams
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people in education, care, coaching, mentoring, or support settings
Understanding of SEN and/or SEMH needs is desirable
Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
